About Cape Fear Valley Medical Center
Cape Fear Valley’s Bladen County Hospital offers compassionate, comprehensive medical care to residents living in Elizabethtown and surrounding areas.
We’re the only critical access hospital (CAH) in the region. The distinction ensures the community’s access to high-quality healthcare. We have the flexibility to meet the acute and post-acute needs of rural patients. With the CAH program, we offer a higher nurse-to-patient ratio than skilled nursing facilities, resulting in better health outcomes. You’ll feel welcome as soon as you enter the hospital. Our physicians, nurses, and medical team are your neighbors and friends. We specialize in: • Emergency department care • Diagnostic services • General surgery • Inpatient care

The wait time is terrible. There were not enough seats in the waiting room. The bathrooms are filthy. We brought our child in with a possible concussion (which was confirmed)and possible neck/spine injury and all they did was check us in and take temperature/blood pressure and had us wait for over 5 hours. They never checked for concussion when she went back for vitals. The app stated she was there for "back pain." Once we FINALLY got back the Doctor--Dr. Haig--was wonderful. I'd give her 5 stars. She was extremely professional and thorough. (I'm sure she won't work at Cape Fear for long). Really,Fayetteville!!! We HAVE to do better!!! Last time I was at this ER my 86yo mother had fallen. They sent her home with a broken femur!!! I don't know why I gave them another chance....I was worried for my child and went to the nearest ER....

I can recall everything before the anesthesia and afterwards nothing in between lol. The care provided from the time we went through security to being checked into short stay was amazing. Everyone was helpful and nice. Ms. Joyce made us feel very welcomed as we were being checked into short stay. I didn't get a good look or remember a lot of names. I do remember JC verifying my name etc and what type of procedure I was getting. The CRNA explained what she was going to do and it was pretty much a blurry after that. I would definitely recommend this facility and it's care for patients to everyone. I want to thank everyone that was apart of my stay. My apologies if I can't remember each and every name, but please know you left an amazing impact on my healing journey 🙏🏾

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had my scheduled C-section at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on August 4th and stayed in the maternity unit from Tuesday through Friday. This was my second child, but my first delivery at Cape Fear Valley, and I can truly say that I had a great experience from beginning to end. From the moment I arrived, I felt well cared for. My nurses, especially Abby and Daisy, were absolutely amazing. There were also several other nurses who cared for me throughout my stay whose names I unfortunately can’t remember, but every person who helped me along the way made a difference. They consistently checked on me, made sure I had everything I needed, answered my questions, and were very attentive to my recovery. I especially want to recognize my nursing assistant, Katrina. She was amazing, attentive, and always willing to help. Recovering from a C-section while caring for a newborn and adjusting to postpartum life can be a lot, and having such a supportive team made the experience so much easier. One thing I really appreciated was how seriously the staff took my pain management. They consistently checked on my pain levels and made sure I was comfortable and that my pain was being prop

My experience at Cape Fear Medical was outstanding from start to finish. Every step of the process—from pre-testing through discharge—was handled efficiently, professionally, and with genuine care. The laboratory staff was courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient. Check-in was seamless and completed in very little time, making the entire experience stress-free from the beginning. The surgical team was exceptional, and Dr. Matthew Daka was truly phenomenal. He took the time to thoroughly explain every step of the procedure, as well as what to expect during recovery. His professionalism, expertise, and genuine concern for his patients were evident throughout the entire process. Dr. Daka's bedside manner is the best I have ever experienced, and he made me feel informed, comfortable, and confident every step of the way. The nursing staff was equally impressive—professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, and always willing to help. Nurse Irene, in particular, deserves special recognition. She consistently stayed one step ahead of any need or concern I might have had and provided exceptional care throughout my stay. Her attentiveness, professionalism, and dedication to her patients are

The teams in ER were excellent in getting my husband the help needed right away. The teams on Step Down Room 329 PST were all wonderful, Samantha, Courtney, Kiarria, I know I'm missing some. They gave him the needed attention with his memory issues. The team at 308PV was a short time but again very attentive. The PT team had Ciara that maneuvered all of his equipment and got him moving was a great motivator. Nutrition, you need to have Genesis train all of them. She was consistent in delivering the meals, making sure is meals were selected for the next day and was so cordial. It was a great experience.
